About 5 years ago, I was trying to buy a 15B that was mounted on 22B crawlers with a 60' boom, and Buda HP326 engine. I struck a deal with the son of the owner, got the machine going, and freed up.. The day we had agreed for me to show up with the money and get the machine I showed up, but they told me they had sold it to someone else!?%$!
Two days ago, on the way home, my cell phone rang. It was a guy not far from me that saw my name and number online somewhere looking for BE parts so he thought he would give me a call. Seems he was buying a 15B, or so he though, he wasn't sure where to look for the serial numbers etc..
Guess what machine it was? You betcha, the same one I tried to buy 5 years ago. I told him my little story, and offered to meet him today where the crane had been sitting for the past 5 years (Yes, I know exactly where it went) I got to talk to the guy that bought it out from under me and heard his side of the story.. I helped the guy buying it adjust the boom hoist clutch and brake and showed him the controls and how they worked. I also loaned him two 15B parts manuals, and operators manual and a Buda engine parts manual that I have.
So now I have been hired to help get the machine working and moved the 1/2 mile to the new ower's place. It's still a sore spot with me as far as what the original seller did, but I am happy to see that it is going to get used again and not scrapped.. And I get first shot at it if he doesn't want it for about 1/3 of what I was going to pay 5 years ago....
Funny how things work out..
