Does anyone out there remember these, or know anything about them??? It looks like thirty or forty outfits used the name "mobilift" and Lamson seems to be unknown. Apparently produced here in Portland, OR, up into the 50s? 60s? Calling some of the local lifter co's parts depts drew a blank. Any comments, suggestions appreciated.. Many thxx!!

Craig: No; at the time I posted didn't know about Lampson (Canadian, I understand). This is Lamson Mobilift Corp.; per the tag on a forklift was located in Portland, OR, possibly pre-war. The owner posted on the Crawlers/Loaders etc forum on ytmag.com, and I thought I could run the company info down for him (but OR Cptn Comm wants $50!! for record search). Apparently has a 3cyl gas air cooled engine and is 3 wheel; his post has more info (don't know how to make a link) and is under Lamson Mobilift, posted 4-30 (on page 3 of that forum today) if you'd like more info. Many thxx for interest.

Lampson is located in Kennewick Washington (not to far from Portland). They make large crawler cranes and special crawler vehicles to move large loads. They are a manufacturer and contractor both.

Craig: Thxx again for aditional background. Have been calling and emailing various local forklift outfits, managed to find one that knew of machines; got email saying the engine was almost certainly a 3cyl Vaughn (I know I've seen the name but it's not in my scattered parts catalogs). Didn't talk to contact but passed his phone etc on to the man who actually has machine.I'm going to check the main librarys' collection of old directories to find when the Portland company existed.

Oops: forgot to mention I seem to have one listing : under Mobilift in a 2000 Wix master filter catalog, showing 10 models in four series (but no years), all using the same oil filter. That could mean one basic model with variations. (A 2006 Fram master catalog doesn't list them) But if you Google Mobilift it seems lots of companies have used the name!

Clueless,

A quick check on ebay showed several manuals. There was one mobilift manual that carried the name lamson, however others carried the names "Minneaplis- Moline" then "White"... but the model numbers carried over between manufacturers.

My guess is that Lamson was bought out by "Minneapolis Moline" who was in turn bought by white ( or vice- versa). this was based entirely on looking at the condition and apparent age of the manuals.

Hope this helps.
