Starting to look around for a Bucyrus-Erie 10 to fufill a childhood wish, and would like to get some guidance on what kind of pricing might be expected for a working, but unrestored unit to a fully restored unit, if such as thing might ever be found for sale.

Looking for a pull hoe, with options for a small lattice boom and clam and a shovel front for some fun projects on my retirement mini-farm. Would be using the hoe to help me with some restoration projects on an old house and barn, and do some other light construction projects.

How long does it take to become acquainted with a cable hoe/shovel, and can one learn with just a factory manual in hand, or is it wise to find an old pro for some tutoring and supervision?

Also, what kind of trailer and truck would be appropriate to use, should I need to transport a BE 10 around?

Thanks to any of you lucky folks BE units who can offer any input.

HI
the 10b is a nice machine but can be pricey because of there popularity. One recently sold in rock and dirt for 7000 and was unrestored but in oporating condition.I came aross mine in an abandon quary, but it is still a long way from oporating condition. Have funn When you do find one, i am told they are quite and experiance to oporate, i have no i dea how to oporate mine, so that should be a learning experience :)

I have a model 25 Northwest with a pullshovel attachment on it if you would be interested in Northwest's. :) I also have a model 22B Bucyrus Erie . Both of these machines are in good operating condition now! They both could stand another coat of paint . I just don't run these machines much any more like I should.

Hi George
I am asking $5000 each for these machines but , if someone wanted both I would let them both go for $9000. The Northwest is powered by a 371 Detroit . This machine has a 3/4 yard backhoe attachment on it (pullshovel) . The Bucyrus Erie 22B has 40' of boom in it now and I have it rigged with a 3/4 Page clam bucket. I also have a extra 10' section of boom and two (2) Hendrix 3/4 drag buckets with rigging for both , that I will let go with this machine. This machine is powered with a D315 Caterpillar engine. I don't have a front shovel for ether but , I do know where several front shovels are for the Northwest.
