I found a Northwest along side a road and the owner is willing to sell. My problem is that I don't know the model or age to equate the worth of it. I looked up above the left side of the seat and saw were a tag had once been. The owner doesn't know either. It has a 1 YD bucket, a Detroit engine and abuot 45 FT of boom. Were else can I get some indication of the age? He said it ran about two years ago but it was really a friends that ran it and he has passed away. It is frfiction and I think it looks like the Model 41's that I have seen on E-bay. The owner did state it weighed about 18 tons. Anyone have a suggestion to look somewhere for an I. D. #? Thanks, Layne

Cableguy,

It could be a model 6, model 25 or a model 41. I know that the model 25 usually use a 3/4 drag bucket & typically has a 40-45 foot boom. Not sure what the weights are for the different model, but I would assume the 41 weights more than 18 tons.

What is he asking for if you do not mind sharing the info?

Can you take a picture and post it on this forum, I am sure someone will be able to tell you for sure once you post a photo.

Not a model 6, they weigh MUCH more than 18 tons. Probably a model 25

Not sure this'l help...have a little serial # location book only shows 25D and 25T: for both it says:
BEFORE 11-1-49: on boss for right hand drum bracket and on right hand machinery side frame under horizontal reverse shaft bearing.
AFTER 11-1-49: stamped on a pad located below boss (see above) on side of right hand machinery side frame and at front right side of rotating base.
(I wonder where they put it on 11-1-49 production?)(joke!)
Section covers cranes, shovels, backhoes and truck cranes, has a batch of other models but no ID or tonnage.
