1940 Bay City Cranemobile, 3/4 Swing shovel on rubber, Powered by W30 International tractor. Complete Unit not running but not locked up. Built September 30, 1940 and sold to the Keener Sand and Gravel Company. We got it from their site in Gallipolis, OH. We contacted the current owners of Bay City and they said they knew of only one other unit on rubber. Located in Gallipolis Ferry, WV. $5,000. Telephone number is (304) 675-7516 and email is sandandgravel@zoomnet.net.

Which model Cranemobile? Cranemobile is a Bay City generic name and covers various models. There was a rubber tired crane (not shovel) for sale up in the Bay area a few year ago. Had duall wheels and was not light. Price was less than this WV one, but shippping cost are a major issue.

CraigM,
Hi, I'm currently building a scale model of a Bay City Shovels Cranemobile in 1/24 scale. Do you have any pictures or detailed information of this vehicle?

Thanks, SprueOne

I'm at the build stage where I need information on how the cables were run through the drum winches then up through the lattice boom and back.
Both elevation for the boom and raising and lowering a load.
The one in the my picture is non-op and on display only.
Thanks in advance if you have info on this.

This is one of the original Cranemobiles, a rubber-tired version of a tractor shovel. The name was applied to full-swing truck cranes later. See Issue 85 of Equipment Echoes for details.

Thanks for the info. I just looked into the back issues at the on-line store and Issue #85 is one of the only ones unavailable. :?

Actually, it is. The on-line store is missing issues 85, 87 and 88 (the current issue). Call our office at 419-352-5616 to order.

As Tom has indicated, the CraneMobile I am refering to is newer than the one you apparently are working on. Ours is a convention 3 axle truck crane. Front end of the crane is a bit unique, but a truck crane all the same.
