Browning did build steam excavators and cranes under a variety of names, including The Browning Engineering Company; Browning Manufacturing Company; Browning Steam Shovel Company; and Victor Browning & Company. They had offices in Mansfield and Cleveland, Ohio.

Hi Terry I have an ad for The Browning Co, Cleveland, Ohio in a 1927 magazine that shows a 1918 Browning steam locomotive crane at work. I guess this dates the company at least from 1918-27. If you give me your email I will send scan of ad. Ted tsv678@aol.com
